Our Reader asked us to publicize the matter. In an email to the editorial office, they wrote: “The road connecting the new A4 motorway with national road 94 has been closed [...]. A detour has been organized through the small village of Godzieszów. On the narrow roads, even small passenger cars have difficulty passing one another, let alone trucks. The verges have been badly damaged.” They added: “Both people traveling toward Węgliniec and Żagań and employees of the nearby Wykroty economic zone have to drive along the terrible road through Godzieszów and then along an even worse section of the old road.” On some sections of the route, drivers have to slow down to 5–10 km/h.

“Residents of nearby houses complain that the road, already in poor condition, is deteriorating even further. Couldn’t this kind of renovation have been carried out before the motorway opened, one of the residents told me. Who is responsible for this? everyone asks indignantly. Who will repair the damaged road, and when?” the Reader complains.

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways is responsible for renovating the section. “The road between the roundabouts in Jeleniów and Godzieszów was full of potholes, with no sidewalks or verges,” says Joanna Wąsiel, a GDDKiA spokesperson. “We took over this road during the construction of the A4 motorway and decided to modernize it.”

Drivers will have to be patient. The renovation has already been underway for a month and a half and will continue for approximately another seven days (or even less, if weather conditions allow). “Once the project is completed, the roads in Godzieszów will be restored to their pre-renovation condition,” Joanna Wąsiel assures.
