As we read on the fan page of the VE-TO Civic Association for Local Initiatives:

I have already submitted the third letter concerning the protest against the sale and construction of a shopping mall on R. Wróblewski Square. I attached lists of residents’ names to it. More than 800 people have already expressed their opinion. People willing to help collect signatures continue to come forward. We will keep doing this until councillors and Mayor Relich stop ignoring their voters.

The head of the organisation, Joanna Świder, adds:

Of course, we are considering other forms of protest, not just written ones.

The post includes a scan of a letter addressed to the Mayor of Nowogrodziec, Robert Relich, in which the president of VE-TO asks for a change to the decision concerning the sale of the plot on which Wróblewski Square is located. The document states, among other things:

Please take into account the fact of climate change and the need to save water during the natural disaster that has been affecting us—the drought lasting for the past several years. Urban planning is a key matter [...]. Half of the town centre is already a concrete desert following the so-called revitalisation of the Market Square. Rainwater flows into the sewer system along Bolesławiecka Street, and please do not forget that we must learn to save, store and reduce our consumption of it.

After the sale and development of the square [...], the trees that retain water in the soil, lower the temperature and increase humidity will be cut down.

J. Świder concludes:

RESIDENTS DO NOT AGREE TO SUCH A SOLUTION AND CONTINUE TO VOICE THEIR OPPOSITION.

What do you think? We invite you to join the discussion.
