The incident occurred on Sunday, January 10, in Lubin. Before 10 a.m., officers were informed of a suicide attempt. “The 34-year-old climbed onto the roof of his house, threatening to jump from it. The duty officer immediately sent district officers to the scene and also notified the fire brigade and ambulance service,” reports asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer for the Lubin District Police Headquarters.

She adds:

The officers found the man sitting on the edge of the roof. The district officer, together with a firefighter, the First Deputy Commander and the Head of District Officers, began efforts to help the desperate man. Unfortunately, the operation was made more difficult because the distraught man was under the influence of intoxicants and no arguments were getting through to him.

The officers managed to distract the 34-year-old. The man moved away from the edge of the roof for a moment. He was then restrained and brought down to the ground.

The resident of Lubin was placed in the care of doctors. Asp. szt. S. Serafin said: “Thanks to the swift intervention of local police officers and firefighters, tragedy was fortunately avoided and another human life was saved.”
