An intelligent pedestrian crossing operates using motion sensors that detect the presence of a pedestrian near the crossing. In such a situation during the day, an optical warning signal is activated to alert drivers to the presence of a pedestrian in the crossing area, while an acoustic message is also emitted to warn pedestrians that they are entering the roadway.
At night, the crossing’s lighting is additionally activated, enabling drivers to see a pedestrian near the crossing, as well as one already crossing the roadway, even in adverse weather conditions.
The investment was carried out by TAURON Nowe Technologie SA, based in Wrocław, a TAURON Group company responsible for the comprehensive implementation and operation of road lighting, as well as the latest solutions for lighting pedestrian crossings and electromobility.
The City of Bolesławiec pays a fixed monthly fee of PLN 304 net, adjusted annually according to the inflation rate, so the city budget is not burdened with a one-time high cost of carrying out the investment.
Next year, the city plans to carry out further projects aimed at improving pedestrian safety. More information at www.boleslawiec.eu
