Last November, we reported that the Bolesławiec SP ZOZ, with the support of the County, had submitted an application for medical emergency services funding to the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme. The hospital wanted to obtain funds to complete construction of the Emergency Department and equip it with state-of-the-art equipment.

In July this year, the application passed the preselection stage. “If we receive the funding, construction of the Emergency Department will not burden the hospital’s or the County’s budget,” Adam Zdaniuk, the hospital director, told us at the time. “And an EU-standard department will be established in Bolesławiec, where patients will be able to find emergency assistance and care.”

It is now known that the facility will receive over PLN 4.5 million for this purpose. The list of projects that will receive funding from the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme can be viewed HERE.

Hospital ranks highly in the “Rzeczpospolita” ranking

The district hospital is in good condition. In this year’s “Rzeczpospolita” ranking, the facility placed 74th among the best Polish public hospitals (last year it was 89th). Moreover, the Bolesławiec ZOZ ranked seventh in Lower Silesia (and second among district hospitals).

“Things are better, and we hope they will be even better,” comments Urszula Fuchs, the director’s representative for controlling and the organization of healthcare services. “I am not becoming euphoric, but this ranking confirms that the efforts of the managers and the entire staff are not in vain,” adds Adam Zdaniuk. “I refer anonymous critics from internet forums to the ‘Rzeczpospolita’ ranking and reports by external auditing firms. This hospital may not be perfect, but we are doing everything to make it as good as possible. Naturally, I am pleased with this distinction, but I will be even happier if the number of patients satisfied with our services continues to grow.”
