The “There’s a Way to Deal with Batteries Too” competition was announced on February 11, 2020. Twelve preschools and 11 classes from four primary schools took part in the contest.
Organizers:
Because the institutions were closed during the pandemic, the first collection of the batteries gathered took place only on May 18. The closure of schools and preschools also made it necessary to amend the competition rules. The deadline for collecting used batteries was extended until the end of October 2020. In total, four trips were made to collect the batteries gathered at the institutions.
They add:
During each collection, the batteries were weighed by MZGK employees, while the school and preschool competition coordinators received written receipts confirming the result achieved.
The result? The preschools collected a total of 1,142.77 kg of used batteries, and the schools collected 1,324.6 kg, giving a total weight of 2,467.37 kg. “Thanks to the joint effort of the organizers, students, teachers and the participants’ parents, nearly 2.5 tonnes of waste hazardous to people and the environment were collected and will be disposed of appropriately,” municipal officials report.
The best results among the preschools were achieved by:
- Private Preschool “Smerfiki” – 251.9 kg
- Municipal Public Preschool No. 5 – 217.8 kg
- Municipal Public Preschool No. 7 – 199.92 kg.
The best among the schools were:
- The inter-class “Collectors” group from Primary School No. 2 – 757.32 kg
- Class III A from Primary School No. 4 – 504.8 kg
- Class II C from Primary School No. 4 – 32.62 kg.
What prize awaits the best battery collectors?
Organizers:
The winning groups will receive trips to the zoo in Wrocław (the groups will go as soon as this becomes possible). The winners of second and third place will receive material prizes.
Congratulations to the winners, and we invite you to take part in the next edition of the competition.
