The crime took place at the end of October. A dog was found in the forest with bolts embedded in its skin.
Officers from the Police Station in Pieńsk (Zgorzelec County) detained a 33-year-old man suspected of abusing a dog. “The perpetrator shot at the animal with a crossbow, injuring it twice. Fortunately, the animal received help quickly and returned to its owner,” reports Junior Asp. Przemysław Ratajczyk of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
During a search of the premises occupied by the 33-year-old, officers found and secured a crossbow with a sight, as well as a pouch containing additional bolts and arrowheads.
The 33-year-old has already been charged. He now faces up to three years in prison.
