The duty officer at the District Police Headquarters received a report about a woman who, holding a dog in her arms, had climbed onto the roof of a building located in one of the housing estates in Zgorzelec. The caller reported that the young woman probably intended to jump. Police and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene.

As it turned out, the woman, holding the dog in her arms, wanted to take her own life. The officers immediately took action because they knew that a human life could depend on their response.
Traffic police officers began talking to the distressed woman, who ordered them not to come closer. She threatened to jump if they approached. However, taking advantage of a moment when the 25-year-old was distracted, the officers prevented her from doing so.

With the help of equipment provided by firefighters, the woman and the dog were safely brought down. The police officers provided the 25-year-old with the necessary assistance and stayed with her until the ambulance arrived.
The great professionalism and determination of the police officers saved the young woman’s life. In such a difficult situation, the officers demonstrated composure and effective action. Thanks to their professional approach to the extremely difficult intervention, a human life was saved.
