The STEICO Group purchased a 16.5-hectare property in the Gromadka municipality, directly next to the A4 motorway, for €1.2 million at the beginning of November 2020. It is part of a former airfield that is currently being transformed into an investment area.

Within a year, a production hall with two technological lines will be built to manufacture flexible thermal insulation mats and thermal insulation boards made from wood fibres using a dry process. The plant will be equipped with a modern raw-material yard, where defibrated wood will be pressed into modern insulation boards. The dry method is one of the more environmentally friendly methods of producing LDF boards, as it reduces water consumption. Another environmentally friendly solution planned at the plant is a biomass boiler, which will provide heat using wood waste generated at the facility.

According to current estimates, the total investment is expected to amount to approximately €60–70 million.

STEICO manufactures thermal insulation materials from wood fibres and is the only producer in the industry to offer an integrated building system made from natural raw materials, in which thermal insulation materials and structural elements complement one another.
