The incident occurred on Friday, October 30, in the afternoon. “As traffic police officers established, the 74-year-old Lubin resident driving a Hyundai passenger car, while traveling along Leśna Street, crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Renault driver who was traveling correctly,” reports asp. szt. Sylwia Serafin, press officer for the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. “A pregnant woman was traveling in the van alongside the driver. Fortunately, none of the participants in the collision suffered any injuries.”

The spokesperson adds:

It soon became clear why the senior woman had lost control of the vehicle and was driving in the wrong lane. Police officers noticed an alcohol bottle in her car. A breathalyzer test showed that the woman had more than one per mille of alcohol in her system. The officers confiscated the irresponsible woman’s driving licence.

The 74-year-old explained to the officers that she had just been returning from a friend’s home, where the friend had been celebrating her name day. The reckless senior could now face up to two years in prison, a hefty fine, and a ban on driving motor vehicles.

The officers:

We remind you and appeal once again: do not get behind the wheel if you have previously consumed alcohol. It takes so little for misfortune to occur and for a tragedy to happen on the road.
