On that day, the children brought their favourite books to school and read them during breaks between lessons. Since the school is located in two buildings, the “Break for Reading” campaign grew a little.

The younger classes (I–III) read in groups, individually, in pairs and in every way imaginable. The older classes (IV–VIII) preferred reading in small groups. They read novels, short stories, comic books, fairy tales, novellas, myths and legends. Historical, adventure and science-fiction books, guidebooks, crime novels and even romances were brought out. The school turned into a reading room. After all, as one of the Polish-language teachers says, “Reading is like breathing; without it, the human soul dies.”

Everyone took part in the campaign—the entire school community: the management, students, teachers and administrative staff.
Honorary patronage over the campaign was assumed by Elżbieta Anna Polak—Marshal of Lubuskie Voivodeship, Ewa Rawa—Lubuskie Education Superintendent, and Ośrodek Rozwoju Edukacji.

Media patronage was provided by: IBBY Polska, the SBP.pl portal, Biblioteki Szkolne Online and Serwis Elektroniczna Biblioteka Pedagogiczna SBP.
