On Wednesday, 4 November, Bolesławiec police officers detained a 36-year-old man suspected of loan fraud. From December 2008 to September 2009, the man ran a service business, installing entrance doors. He signed contracts with clients and, using their personal details, took out loans.

Officers estimate that nearly 20 people were victimized. Moreover, the 36-year-old persuaded others to take out joint loans on the basis of false contracts. After the loans were granted, the accomplices divided the money among themselves. In addition to the detained 36-year-old, another 20 people were involved in the scheme. The fraudsters obtained nearly PLN 30,000.

The investigation is ongoing. Police do not rule out further arrests. The suspect and his accomplices face up to 8 years in prison.
