A meeting was held at the Bolesławiec County Office between representatives of the "Brotherhood of Saint James the Apostle" and county authorities. The Brotherhood is an association established to restore the Way of Saint James.
During the meeting at the County Office, an agreement was signed under which the county will join the creation of the pilgrimage route. "Marking out the Way of Saint James from Jakubów to Goerlitz will make it possible to connect Lower Silesia to the European network of pilgrimage routes of Saint James the Apostle, extending all the way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain," said County Governor Krzysztof Konopka.
Marking out the pilgrimage route is an opportunity for the county’s tourism development. This will create demand for new accommodation facilities, pilgrim hostels and parking lots. In the future, there are also plans to mark walking, cycling and horseback routes for pilgrims and tourists.
