The ceramic jugs were destroyed during the night of October 27–28. One of the drivers passing by notified the police about the incident. – Steps are being taken to establish all the circumstances of the incident – says Adriana Szajwaj, press spokesperson for the Bolesławiec police. Investigators are considering various scenarios. – We are determining whether this was deliberate damage or perhaps one of the cars accidentally hit the vessels – the spokesperson adds.
If it turns out that the destruction resulted from an intentional act, the vandal may face up to five years in prison.
– The jugs had stood at the roundabout for several years. Until now, they had not bothered anyone – says Karol Stasik, president of Zakłady Ceramiczne „Bolesławiec”. Two vessels were smashed, and the third was dismantled. The cost of one jug is PLN 1,500. – I regret that someone destroyed, in such a thoughtless way, something that served us all – Stasik emphasizes. – Many tourists travel along this route. The jugs promoted not only Zakłady Ceramiczne, but also Bolesławiec.
As the president assures, new jugs will be installed as early as November this year.
