On Friday, 4 September, an amendment to the regulation on offences entered into force, authorising municipal police officers to issue new fines. Rp.pl:
The new regulations provide that a municipal police officer has the right to impose a fine of up to PLN 500 on a person who has not submitted a waste declaration (the amount of the waste collection fee is determined on its basis).
The website adds:
A resident of a municipality who lied in the declaration in order to pay less for waste collection can expect the same penalty—for example, stating that two people live at a given address when in fact there are five.
Interestingly, a fine may also be imposed on a person who declared that they would set up a composter but did not do so, or who has one but does not use it while paying less for waste. Details are available on the Rzeczpospolita website.
