Good news for everyone who would like to listen to good music, and for those who want to hear the concert again. The EURO BAND concert was recorded. Below is a link to the over-one-hour performance by the Czech-Polish band created during workshops at BOK – MCC!

The idea behind the EURO BAND project was to create a Polish-Czech band from scratch. A band that would perform popular Polish, Czech and English-language melodies at a concert. The nearly 20-member big band, with a brass section and seven vocalists, was warmly received by the audience. The band performed its own arrangements of popular songs. We also heard Helena Vondráčková’s hits “Malovaný dzbanku” and Karel Gott’s “Lady Karneval.” The band had a very strong brass section: seven instrumentalists who worked under the supervision of Patrycjusz Gruszecki, Jazzman of the Year 2017. The band’s musical coordination was handled by Daniel Grupa, a talented pianist and composer. The singing teacher at the workshops was Kamila Bakalarczyk-Kruk.

“For us, this work was a great pleasure,” Kamila Bakalarczyk-Kruki said from the stage. “It’s not that we taught them something; we learned from one another together,” the vocalist added.

The Czech participants in the project were young people from a music school and members of a choir. Six Czechs performed on stage; the rest were Poles: two female vocalists, two drummers, a bassist, seven members of the brass section, a keyboardist and two guitarists, including Mirek Kuc, an instructor at BOK – MCC, and his most talented student and stage colleague, Wojtek Andrzejewski. The lecturer working with the rhythm section was Bartlomiej Pietsch.

Pavel Ondruj, the coordinator on the Czech side, emphasizes that this was another successful musical meeting with Poles.

“For us, it was a great joy to be guests in Bolesławiec, in this beautiful place,” Pavel said. “I hope for more good musical projects with you,” the coordinator from the Czech Republic added.

On the Polish side, the project was coordinated by Dariusz Uściński from the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre.

“The Euro Band project was created for the second time with the partner Stowarzyszenie Blues nad Becvou,” says Dariusz Uściński. “It was a great pleasure to host such talented and committed musicians in Bolesławiec,” the project coordinator added.

The project partners were: the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre and Stowarzyszenie Blues nad Becvou from Prerov. The project began on Monday, 17 August, and concluded with a final concert on 22 August at 9:00 p.m. at Piłsudski Square in Bolesławiec.

“The EURO BAND project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund and by the state budget through the Nysa Euroregion.”
