On Friday, 21 August, a meeting with Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz, the author of the Laikonyka Krakowskiego exhibition “Sensy-Byty-Mary” and, above all, a composer of film and theatre music who was associated for many years with the renowned cabaret Piwnica pod Baranami, took place at the Format Gallery of the Municipal Public Library – Centrum Wiedzy in Bolesławiec.

The works on display at Bolesławiec’s Centrum Wiedzy were created using a technique he invented called gel-art. “Gel-art is a combination of contemporary extravagance and convulsive classicism,” J.K. Pawluśkiewicz said during Friday’s meeting. “This technique arose by accident. I am its inventor; no one else does it, at least not in Poland.

The artist, who has been creating gel-art paintings for more than 20 years, stressed that he considers himself a painter—on the same principle that John Cage called his famous work “4' 33"” a musical composition.

The Laikonyka Krakowskiego exhibition “Sensy-Byty-Mary” can be viewed until 19 September during the opening hours of the Library – Centrum Wiedzy in Bolesławiec. Meanwhile, on Saturday, 22 August, at 7:00 p.m., an excellent concert of “Nieszpory Ludźmierskie” will be held at the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bolesławiec, on Zamkowy Square. Admission is free.
