Since Saturday, an educational exhibition entitled “Why Do We Need Bees? Why Should We Care?” can be viewed throughout August in Bolesławiec at the Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna – Centrum Wiedzy.

The exhibition was prepared in Polish and German. Its opening was combined with the public launch of the “For the Bees” Polish-German project, carried out by the EkoRozwoju Foundation together with its partners and co-financed by the Interreg Poland-Saxony programme and the Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska we Wrocławiu. On this occasion, the City of Bolesławiec, in cooperation with the Foundation, organised a family ecological picnic, where visitors could learn about the secrets of honey production, exchange waste paper for meadow-flower seeds and build a house for wild pollinators themselves, among other activities.

The organisers encourage visitors to see the exhibition about bees at Centrum Wiedzy. It presents bees and wild pollinators, their benefits, threats and their sources, as well as methods of saving pollinators. Visitors can also find out: how long does it take to produce one spoonful of honey? Which insect, after the honey bee, is the best pollinator of cultivated plants? Why should pesticides not be used, lawns not be mowed, and spring garden clean-ups postponed?

Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna – Centrum Wiedzy thanks everyone who took part in the “Rój Wiedzy” meeting on 1 August.

As everyone could see for themselves, it was well worth attending. We learned about the lives of bees through an exhibition prepared by the Ekorozwoju Foundation; we could observe live bees thanks to the Rejonowe Koło Pszczelarzy w Bolesławcu; buy bee products; build houses for wild pollinators; win prizes in the Wheel of Fortune and lottery; build and colour; and learn what a flower meadow is and how to establish one. Together with the Miejski Zakład Gospodarki Komunalnej, we collected a large quantity of waste paper, which will be recycled.
