The aim of the measures was to make people driving and walking across railway tracks aware of the dangers they may face if they fail to exercise particular caution.
Vigilance and caution are important when moving through various parts of railway areas.
Ignoring traffic regulations and rushing can endanger the lives of drivers and their passengers. Pedestrians must also be very careful when crossing the tracks.
During the campaign, drivers were handed information brochures concerning safety at railway crossings.
PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. has placed unique yellow stickers with emergency telephone numbers, intended for all road users, at 14,000 railway crossings throughout Poland, on the inner side of the barrier or on the St. Andrew’s cross.
The police appeal! Make sure twice that no train is approaching on the tracks. When a warning of an approaching train appears, be patient—do not risk your life and do not drive onto the tracks when the barrier is already descending, because you may not make it across in time. A speeding train has a very long braking distance.
