On Saturday, August 1, matches in the first round of the Regional Polish Cup were played. In Łaziska, the local A-class LZS hosted Piast Wykroty. Before the match began, both teams honored the memory of the Warsaw Uprising insurgents with a moment of silence.
There is little to say about the first half other than that it took place. Both teams played disjointed football, and their performance gave no indication that two teams competing at different levels had met. Before the match, Piast, who play in the regional league, were the favorites, but after a chaotic first half it was difficult to say who would win.
The match went goalless until the 75th minute. Then Konrad Muzal produced an excellent shot from outside the penalty area, making it 1–0 for Piast. Moments later, the visitors followed up, with Dominik Szydlarski sending the ball into the Łaziska goal.
The hosts responded with a goal by Rafał Kotwica, but in the closing minutes Paweł Urbaniak put the match beyond them, also setting the final score at 3:1 for Piast. Piast Wykroty won the match and advanced to the next round of the cup competition.
