Mural for medics in Bolesławiec: what do you think?

A mural is being created on the southern wall of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre building. It is a symbol of the gratitude of Bolesławiec residents to the medical services fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. The mural was created by Waldemar Cieślak, who used a design by Mateusz Grobelny. The work is already clearly visible.

Waldemar Cieślak was previously known for his murals: at a school in Tomaszów and in a pizzeria in Tomaszów. His scenographic works include copies of the Bolesławiec viaduct and the town hall stairs, which could be admired during several Bolesławiec Mayor’s Awards ceremonies. The artist’s unique works also included unconventional ideas for sets for performances staged at Forum. The artist built a huge jug—over 4 metres tall—from recycled materials, which has already opened the parade of people painted with clay at Glina Show twice. The jug symbolises Joppe’s work from 1753, an attraction of pre-war Bolesławiec considered the largest pot in the world. Waldemar Cieślak’s over-4-metre jug was made from secondary raw materials, including 440 mineral-water bottles. The artist wanted to draw attention to the importance of recycling in our lives. The artist’s family collected this many bottles by buying mineral water over the course of a year. His work belongs to the Eco Art movement—recycling art intended to remind consumer society what it produces and how much it throws away.
