Our regional ultramarathon runners – Daniel Milewicz (Bolesławiec) and Marek Szramowiat (Lwówek Śląski) – have set their sights on a run through the Swiss Alps: all the way to Lake Constance, covering 318 km with a time limit of 140 hours.
Daniel and Marek already have some considerable distances under their belts, including joint runs of 240 km (the Bieg 7 Szczytów through the Kłodzko Valley) and many others, including a 150 km run around the Jelenia Góra Valley, as well as events whose distance never falls below 100 km.
In the final weeks before the race in Switzerland, the athletes often train in the Karkonosze Mountains, running up Śnieżka two or three times in a row. As they emphasize, the Karkonosze are an excellent training ground. And they share one key feature with the Alps: the weather.
