Unfortunately, BKS Bolesławiec ended their Polish Regional Cup final match against Apis Jędrzychowice with a defeat. The western-group winner of the Lower Silesian fourth division defeated our team 2–1 (0–0). BKS Bolesławiec’s goal was scored by Adrian Biały, while Apis’s goals were scored by: Kamil Kurianowicz and Patryk Bystryk.
Despite the rain, the match was enjoyable to watch. Both teams played some very good football. Although Apis Jędrzychowice controlled the game, our boys put up a brave fight and even created several excellent chances to score. In the 12th minute, Filip Zagórski found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The BKS captain had already rounded his opponent, but unfortunately an Apis Jędrzychowice defender managed to clear the ball at the last moment. The visitors threatened our goal several times, but Tomasz Hajduczek, guarding the net, kept the danger at bay with a series of saves. The teams therefore went into half-time level at 0–0.
The second half began in the worst possible way for us. In the 49th minute, the visitors launched a counterattack and took a 1–0 lead through Kamil Kurianowicz. Angered by conceding, the BKS Bolesławiec players threw themselves into recovering the deficit, but we lacked a cool head in the opposition penalty area, despite having no shortage of chances to equalise. To make matters worse, in the 62nd minute the visitors extended their lead to 2–0 through Patryk Bystryk, leaving BKS in a difficult situation. Our boys did not hang their heads, however, and continued to fight back. In the 83rd minute, following confusion in the Apis penalty area, Adrian Biały scored a goal to give us hope, and the final minutes promised excitement. They were, too, but unfortunately we were unable to equalise, and the trophy went to Jędrzychowice.
Despite the defeat, we did not leave the pitch with our heads bowed. We performed with dignity, and our team’s young players showed that they can compete with any opponent. Congratulations to Apis Jędrzychowice on the victory, and we wish them success in the next rounds.
