Students of Primary School No. 1 in Bolesławiec, as every year, are eager to register and then take part in a competition focused on historical topics. In the 2019/2020 school year, three students advanced to the inter-school stage of the “White Nights” Russian History Knowledge Competition: Piotr Mazur, 8b, Karolina Chlastawa, 8b, and Apolonia Pohl, 7b.

After the pandemic was announced, the organizers, the Marshal’s Office and DODN in Wrocław, decided to complete the competition in a modified format. Two students expressed their willingness to continue competing and prepared works whose central theme was: “Russia—history enchanted in music.” The level of this year’s edition was very high, and the competition committee faced the difficult challenge of selecting “the best of the best.”

The participants demonstrated not only historical knowledge but also the ability to creatively develop a literary narrative. The results and the selection of the winners were announced on June 16, 2020. Karolina Chlastawa from class 8b became a laureate of the 12th “White Nights” Russian Knowledge Competition (third place in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship). For writing the story “My Friend Piotr,” which received a very high assessment, Karolina will receive a prize: a several-day stay in Russia.
