The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 1, at 9:35 a.m. While patrolling Chojnowska Street in Legnica, traffic police officers wanted to stop a motorcycle for inspection. “The man riding the Suzuki, seeing the signals given by the officers, accelerated sharply and began to flee. The police immediately set off after him in pursuit, which continued along Chojnowska, Piastowska and Kartuska streets,” reports junior warrant officer Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. “At one point, at the intersection of Kartuska and Nadbrzeżna streets, the fugitive caused a traffic collision. He hit the rear of a Mercedes that had stopped before a marked pedestrian crossing to give way to a pedestrian.”

The motorcyclist fell onto the road.

The spokeswoman said: “The police immediately ran to the man to provide first aid and called an ambulance to the scene. The man was taken to the Regional Specialist Hospital in Legnica.”

It turned out that the 35-year-old had fled because he has… a lifetime ban on driving any motor vehicles.

After receiving medical assistance, the fugitive was taken into police custody. He is due to hear the charges today. He could face between three months and five years in prison.
