We were asked to publicize the issue by our Reader, who pointed out that the warning signals at the railway crossings near Cieszkowskiego and Modłowa were not working. What is more, stop signs were put up near Cieszkowskiego. According to the man, the Bolesławiec bypass has become dangerous. The reason? Some drivers travel by habit, paying no attention to the signs reading “Warning signals out of order.” An accident could happen all too easily.

The oil company PKN Orlen is responsible for the warning signals. “We had to switch them off because track repairs are under way,” explains Artur Wajda, the terminal manager. “The buttons that activate the warning signals are connected to the tracks. If they were switched on, the warning signals would flash all the time, which would make the situation even more dangerous.”

As Wajda assures us, the difficulties are temporary. The repairs are scheduled to be completed in the first week of October.
