On Wednesday, September 23, police officers from Bolesławiec, Wrocław, Zgorzelec and Lubań, along with officers of the Military Police and Border Guard, conducted the “Safe Road” operation.

The results are not encouraging. Officers inspected 189 vehicles. They confiscated 22 registration certificates (due to the poor technical condition of the cars) and issued 123 fines (including 80 for failure to wear seat belts and 31 for speeding).

The operation is intended to improve the safety of road users. Police remind drivers: seat belts are the most effective way to ensure safety while driving. Half of the victims of fatal road accidents could have survived if they had been wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. Moreover, failure to wear a seat belt is an offense punishable by a PLN 100 fine and 2 penalty points.
