On Friday evening, officers from the District Police Headquarters in Lubin secured the football match between Zagłębie and ŁKS Łódź. It was the first match in Poland after the stands reopened to home fans.

“A total of 857 fans arrived at the stadium. Everyone had to comply with the new sanitary rules. For this purpose, a police car drove around the stadium perimeter and along the routes leading to the stadium, broadcasting a preventive message about the need to cover the mouth and nose when entering the stadium and taking the designated seats in the sections, as well as maintaining a distance of two metres from other people,” says Asp. Krzysztof Pawlik, deputy press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lubin. “Despite the preventive measures in this regard, Lubin police officers identified 34 offences involving failure to use masks and maintain distance from others. In 33 cases, a caution was issued, while in one case the officers imposed a fine on the person.”

The spokesperson adds:

Everyone at the stadium complied with the guidelines. The fans rose to the occasion, took their seats properly and, despite the restrictions, supported their team, which proved better than ŁKS from Łódź in the match, scoring the only goal late in the first half.

And stresses:

We have more matches ahead, the first of them already on Friday evening. We appeal to people who want to attend and support their team during the match to remember the need to cover their mouth and nose, maintain a distance of two metres from other people and comply with the restrictions imposed on them. When approaching the stadium, we must maintain a two-metre distance from other people. When entering and taking our seats, we are required to wear masks, while in the sections we must occupy the seats designated by the event organizer. Moving around the stadium during the mass event is permitted, but it may take place only while maintaining a distance of two metres from other participants in the sporting event and while also wearing protective masks.
