Examinations in Lower Silesia resumed on 4 May—at that time only for categories A, A1, A2, AM, C, C+E and D. The remaining categories were reinstated on 11 May.

“The Provincial Road Traffic Centres are making every effort to ensure that exams are conducted safely and, at the same time, in the most comfortable conditions possible. However, we are still operating in a period of heightened risk, so I would like to remind everyone to follow the necessary safety rules every day,” says Marshal Cezary Przybylski.

Before theory and practical exams, candidates have their body temperature measured. When taking the exam, they must wear gloves and masks. The examiner is also equipped with similar personal protective equipment. Fewer people take the theory exam at the same time. Everyone must wear masks and gloves and keep a minimum distance of 1.5 metres from other candidates.

Vehicles are also carefully prepared: the steering wheel and gear stick are wrapped in foil, and a disposable cover is placed on the driver's seat.

The most eagerly awaited category was category B—for this category, between 1 and 31 May, 3,517 theory tests and 3,156 practical tests were conducted in Lower Silesia. In total, 4,669 theory exams and 4,344 practical exams were conducted for all categories, broken down as follows:

  • WORD Legnica—733 theory tests and 822 practical tests
  • WORD Jelenia Góra—1,600 theory exams and 1,375 practical exams
  • WORD Wałbrzych—880 theory tests and 693 practical tests
  • WORD Wrocław—1,456 theory exams and 1,454 practical exams.

“Until the situation in the country returns to normal, the number of exams held during the day is lower, and the centres operate in two shifts. Protective measures are also used, and vehicles and rooms are disinfected,” informs Tymoteusz Myrda, Member of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. “The directors of WORDs in Lower Silesia assure us that the exams are proceeding without problems, and the number of candidates for new drivers is increasing.”
