Priority Axis No. I “Universal Access to Fast Internet”
Measure 1.1: “Eliminating territorial differences in access to high-capacity broadband Internet”

The Education, Culture and Sport Department of the Bolesławiec County Office promptly took advantage of the opportunity to obtain funding under the “Remote School – Support for the Nationwide Education Network in the Remote Learning System” project, which is particularly necessary amid the widespread COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and is being implemented under the Operational Programme Digital Poland for 2014–2020.

Starting on 1 April this year, all municipalities and counties in Poland could apply for funding to purchase tablets, laptops and software for conducting remote education. The PLN 186 million allocated for this purpose is a response to the current situation in schools, where remote lessons have become the new and primary form of teaching. The “Remote School” project was launched to enable and facilitate remote education for as many students and teachers as possible. The Bolesławiec County Education Department quickly took advantage of this opportunity and obtained funding to purchase equipment and software for students and teachers at Bolesławiec secondary schools—in particular, tablets, laptops and software enabling remote education.

As a result, for nearly a month now, our students who previously did not have such an opportunity have been able to use new computer equipment. Under the “Remote School” project, I Liceum Ogólnokształcące received four laptops, while II Liceum, Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych and Zespół Szkół Elektronicznych each received three laptops. Students at Mechanik are already using four new devices, as are those at Handlówka and the special school. Zespół Szkół Budowlanych in Bolesławiec received five laptops. Liceum Ogólnokształcące Zakonu Pijarów also qualified for support under the project and received one laptop. Ultimately, nearly PLN 100,000 was obtained for this purpose. The grant project entitled “Remote School – Support for the Nationwide Education Network in the Remote Learning System” was financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Programme Digital Poland for 2014–2020.
