As bomb-disposal specialists from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol No. 23 of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec informed us yesterday:
In connection with the discovery of an unexploded mortar grenade on Góralska Street and our activities related to neutralizing it on Friday (2020.05.15) residents within a radius of 300 m will be evacuated.
Due to the poor condition of the unexploded ordnance, it will have to be detonated where it was found.
They add:
Unfortunately, all residents in this area will have to leave their homes before we can begin neutralizing the unexploded ordnance.
The preliminary start time for our operations is 10:00. (Details will be published by the Bolesławiec Municipal Office.)
Our operations will last 2–3 hours.
Mayor's announcement concerning the evacuation
Due to a real threat to people's health and lives caused by unexploded ordnance from World War II found in Bolesławiec on Góralska Street, I order the mandatory evacuation of all persons staying in the city of Bolesławiec in properties located on the following streets:
- Stanisława Staszica, odd numbers from 37 to 95
- Stanisława Staszica, even numbers from 40 to 124a
- Dębowa, numbers 1a–3d,
- Lipowa,
- Góralska, odd numbers from 11 to 39,
- Góralska, even numbers from 22 to 56,
- Łąkowa, odd numbers from 1 to 11,
- Łąkowa, even numbers from 2 to 14,
- Stolarska, odd numbers from 1 to 15,
- Stolarska, even numbers from 2 to 24,
- Akacjowa, numbers 1 to 7,
- Brzozowa, odd numbers from 1 to 9b,
- Brzozowa, even numbers from 2 to 14,
- Miodowa, odd numbers from 1 to 5a,
- Miodowa, even numbers from 2 to 12,
- Konstytucji 3 Maja 5 and 7, and Stanisława Małachowskiego 2
- Romualda Traugutta 2, 4, 6 and 8,
- Tadeusza Kościuszki 19 and 23 (Ceramika Artystyczna).
The evacuation will take place on May 15, 2020 (Friday), from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. You should take your identity documents with you and lock residential buildings. The unexploded ordnance will be detonated where it was found at approximately 10:00 a.m..
For the duration of the evacuation, rooms have been prepared at Primary School No. 5 at 60 Dolne Młyny Street and MPP No. 3 at 42a Dolne Młyny Street, where people can take shelter in accordance with the rules established for the duration of the epidemic. For this purpose, MZK buses will be stationed at bus stops within the evacuation zone. Buses will depart from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Consequently, streets in the danger zone will be closed to vehicular traffic.
People who need assistance with evacuation and people requiring medical transport are asked to contact 604112842 or 604220085 by Thursday at 9:00 p.m.. After that, such needs should be reported to police officers operating in the area.
We will announce the end of the evacuation by SMS, on the municipal office's website and through voice announcements.
What should you particularly remember? Keep a distance of 2 metres from others in public spaces. Cover your nose and mouth in public places.
Strictly follow sanitary rules in places where there are many people.
