Infections were detected at the Niebieski Parasol Long-Term Care Facility in Chojnów. When the management learned that one of the care workers had tested positive, it immediately ordered testing of the staff and residents who had been in contact with her. A total of 50 people were tested (31 patients and 19 staff members). It turned out that 36 people were infected (26 patients and 10 staff members).
Following these results, it was decided that another 81 people would be tested. They include residents and staff.
“For now, there is no need to transport anyone to hospital. Everyone is isolated. The infected people are on the ground floor, while those who tested negative are upstairs. We can say that the situation is more or less under control. There is a doctor on site who is not infected. He is a very courageous man,” says Jacek Watral, District Sanitary Inspector in Legnica.
The day after tomorrow will be the crucial moment, when it will become known how many people are infected. Decisions concerning the facility and its residents will also be made then. It is possible that if any of them deteriorates, they will be taken to the hospital in Bolesławiec.
