More than two hundred people are searching for 3.5-year-old Kacperek from Nowogrodziec. The boy went missing after 6:00 p.m. on Monday. He was in his father’s care.
Initial reports said that the child might have fallen into the river. Divers searched the water, while a boat equipped with sonar examined the riverbed. From the air, police officers in a helicopter and a special drone equipped with a thermal-imaging camera conducted surveillance. Firefighters, soldiers and police officers searched the riverbanks and nearby allotments. Tracking dogs were also deployed. It produced no results.
As we have learned, the boy’s father turned out to be a wanted person—he is due to serve a prison sentence for an offense against property. What is more, the man was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. He had 0.7 per mille of alcohol in his breath. He was at the allotment when the child went missing.
Today, operations involving a drone and divers will be carried out. The allotment gardens are being searched again, and the riverbed is being examined. The search radius will be gradually expanded.
Firefighters from across the province, Territorial Defence soldiers and police are taking part in the operation—nearly 200 people. (More services are arriving all the time).
Kacperek’s family allotment is cordoned off with police tape.
