The Mayor of Nowogrodziec Robert Relich and director of SP ZOZ Robert Adaszewski:
We inform you that:
As of 20 April 2020, a total of 11 people with confirmed coronavirus infections were staying in the long-term care facilities—the Palliative and Hospice Care Facility and the Nursing and Treatment Facility—operated by SPZOZ, out of a total of 52 patients. Yesterday, 17 patients of the Nursing and Treatment Facility, including 13 people with confirmed COVID-19 infections, were transferred to a specialist facility in Oborniki Śląskie and to the Single-Name Hospital in Bolesławiec for isolation.
All the transferred individuals tolerated the journey well and their condition did not deteriorate.
Repeat tests for all patients at the facility will be carried out shortly, in consultation with the State County Sanitary Inspector in Bolesławiec and the Single-Name Hospital in Bolesławiec.
Since the COVID-19 infection was identified at the Palliative and Hospice Care Facility, two people infected with coronavirus have died; they were patients in the terminal phase of their illness.
The condition of the other hospitalized patients is stable; the patients continue to show no symptoms of COVID-19.
The total number of infections among staff is 14 out of a total of 60 people. Testing of the staff is still ongoing.
The provision of medical services is secured by the staff. The staff who had remained at the Nursing and Treatment Facility for six days was replaced today. Volunteers have offered to help care for the patients and will support the medical staff with their work. Once again, we sincerely thank all the employees who remained with the patients for many days.
