On Saturday, August 22, the Bolesławiec Strongmen Competition was held at the MOSiR Water and Sports Centre. Seventeen strongmen took part in the bench press tournament, including representatives of sports clubs and unaffiliated athletes. The athletes competed in five categories.
In the junior category, Bartłomiej Cierlik of Activ club was the best, pressing 165 kg. Damian Świtaniak, representing Cezar club, took second place with a result of 130 kg, while Sebastian Członka of TKKF Bolesławianka was third with 95 kg.
The senior category was won by Andrzej Kocyła from Złotoryja. The strongman pressed 200 kg. Grzegorz Rompalski from Krosno Odrzańskie took second place with 197.5 kg, while Rafał Gomuła from Pszczew was third with 192.5 kg.
Only one competitor took part in the older seniors category. Bogusław Mienculewicz of TKKF Bolesławianka pressed 195 kg.
Among the masters, Andrzej Baran was the best with 75 kg. Janusz Łysiak took second place after pressing 70 kg. Both strongmen represented TKKF Bolesławianka.
The open category was won by Andrzej Kocyła. Grzegorz Rompalski was second, and Rafał Gomuła third.
The Bolesławiec Strongmen Tournament was also held on the same day. The strongmen competed in events including the farmer’s walk, the weight of tears, pressing a 70-kilogram log overhead while standing, the clock and car pulling.
The winner was Kamil Pietranis from Lwówek Śląski. Rafał Gomuła from Pszczew took second place, while Grzegorz Lichodziejewski from Żary was third.
