On Saturday at 8:50 p.m., on the Small Stage in front of Forum cinema, Elżbieta Tor’s ensemble will present a performance set to Piotr Rubik’s music, entitled “Wedding Variations.” The performance will portray the most beautiful moments of human life: children’s games, youthful infatuations and the wedding ceremony. The choreography was created to Piotr Rubik’s music, which is captivating and popular with many people.

– Wedding Variations is the realization of my dreams – says Elżbieta Tor, the performance’s choreographer. – I have always wanted to show something romantic, something that comes from the heart.

Asked why she chose Piotr Rubik’s music, she replies: – I found many Polish dances in it: obereks, kujawiaks and chodzony dances.

Wybrałam muzykę Piotra Rubika, bo znalazłam w niej wiele polskich tańców, oberków, kujawiaków, chodzonych – mówi Elżbieta TorWybrałam muzykę Piotra Rubika, bo znalazłam w niej wiele polskich tańców, oberków, kujawiaków, chodzonych – mówi Elżbieta Tor • Photo author: Grażyna Hanaf

– During one of the performances, I heard an exceptional oberek. The oberek is a trance dance – Elżbieta laughs. – It is sharp as a razor blade and spins like a gimlet. Something is constantly happening in it, so a dancer sometimes loses her sense of where she is. If someone gets a taste for the oberek, they may become addicted to it like a drug.

We invite you to a performance by this exceptional Bolesławiec ensemble, which has operated continuously for more than 40 years (soon the grandchildren of the first dancers will begin enrolling in its classes). The Song and Dance Ensemble dances especially for the residents of our town. The ensemble members encourage everyone: – We dance for you with all our hearts; come and see us.
