For three days now, free Glinart workshops organized by the Starost Office and the Via Sudetica Association have been taking place at Galeria Concordia. The classes are led by Barbara Bednarowicz, a third-year student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Faculty of Sculpture, and Mariusz Laudański, a fifth-year student at the University of Zielona Góra, Faculty of Social and Cultural Animation.

“You can learn how to shape clay here,” says Barbara, who leads the art classes. “Workshop participants learn various clay-forming techniques. I do not impose any subject; I do not want to introduce any restrictions. The main point is to stimulate the imagination.”

The workshop participants’ creations are very diverse. “Three-year-olds shaped little horses, while people in their twenties made pots and jugs,” Barbara says with a smile.

Mariusz, meanwhile, emphasizes that he is not preparing young people for a career as actors. “These are paratheatrical classes that develop the body, mind and thinking,” he says.

That does not mean, however, that it is impossible to learn something interesting about theater at Glinart. On the contrary, actress Olga Paszkowska, until recently associated with the Lubuski Theatre in Zielona Góra, is taking part in the Bolesławiec workshops. “Olga is happy to share her professional experience with young people,” Mariusz adds.

Both instructors agree that Glinart is above all about having fun. “We are a group of people with very different temperaments. Thanks to that, we have managed to create a unique atmosphere here,” Barbara says.

Friday’s classes will run from 12:00 to 16:00. Glinart will conclude with a post-workshop performance.
