On Tuesday (11 August), Bolesławiec police officers detained an older couple who were caring for their 2-month-old grandson. The 55-year-old man and 55-year-old woman were completely drunk. The grandfather had almost 2.1 per mille of alcohol in his system, while the grandmother had 2.6 per mille. Police were informed by telephone that drunk grandparents were caring for a small child.

The house where the grandparents were staying with the small child was generally untidy. Officers called an ambulance, which took the boy to hospital for examinations. The drunk caregivers were taken into police custody. Caregivers who cause a threat to a child's life or health face up to 5 years in prison.
