As part of the presidential campaign of Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Civic Platform MPs came to Lower Silesia. They were, among other places, in Bolesławiec (details in the article: Kidawa 2020: Grzegorz Schetyna, Piotr Borys and Michał Jaros in Bolesławiec), as well as in Legnica, where a poster of the only female presidential candidate in Poland was hung on the fence that had previously displayed a banner of the incumbent president, Andrzej Duda.
Piotr Borys, Civic Platform MP:
We thank Mr Norbert, the owner of this fence, who—as I recall—took down President Andrzej Duda’s illegally hung banner. Today, Ms Małgorzata is hanging here in accordance with the regulations and with Mr Norbert’s decision.
Grzegorz Schetyna, former leader of Civic Platform:
Legnica is another Lower Silesian city where we are present. It makes sense, especially since this campaign will not be easy to conduct in the coming days.
And he added:
This is a symbolic fence. The rules and principles must be observed. If PiS is breaking the law in the campaign today, we come to Legnica to show that the owner’s consent is required to use their fence or balcony. It is about equality of rules.
What do you think? We invite you to join the discussion.
Let us recall. We reported on the matter at the end of February this year. “Andrzej Duda’s election campaign headquarters is breaking the law by hanging a banner on my fence without my consent”—this is what a Legnica resident, Mr Norbert, wrote on his Facebook profile.
The Legnica resident posted a video on his profile showing him cutting down and removing Andrzej Duda’s presidential campaign banner.
In the video, the Legnica resident explained that he had not consented to the banner being hung on his private fence, for which he pays taxes. He also announced that he would take the poster to the National Electoral Commission and ask for Andrzej Duda’s campaign headquarters to be punished. The reason? Breaking the law.
The video broke popularity records.
