Although not a single case of coronavirus has yet been confirmed in Poland, the authorities of Lower Silesia are nevertheless preparing for such a possibility. The Bolesławiec county hospital plays a central role in this plan, because, as it happens, Bolesławiec is home to one of the two infectious disease wards in the whole of Lower Silesia. The other is in Wrocław. These wards are prepared to admit patients suspected of having coronavirus.
In addition to them, there are two more hospitals in Lower Silesia selected by the Ministry of Health. One of them is also in Wrocław, and the other in Wałbrzych. The full list can be found on the Ministry of Health website.
The Bolesławiec facility’s infectious disease ward has 11 beds, including three isolation rooms. (A patient suspected of having coronavirus must be isolated.)
“We are 100% prepared,” assures Kamil Barczyk, director of the county hospital.
