“Because they lived by the law of the wolf, history is silent about them...” – this is how poet Zbigniew Herbert wrote about the Cursed Soldiers. For decades, speaking the truth about the independence-oriented anti-communist underground was either forbidden or silenced in fear. The Cursed Soldiers survived in the memories of their surviving comrades-in-arms and in a few illegal publications. Bolesławiec County:

Only since 1 March 2011 have Poles officially had the right to honor their heroes. Not secretly, but openly, beneath the white-and-red flag.

The ceremony, to which Bolesławiec residents were invited by Mayor Piotr Roman and the commander of the ZHP Szare Szeregi troop, hm. Barbara Chrościak, took place on Sunday, 1 March, in the city park, beside the symbol of Fighting Poland.
