Additional language and mathematics-and-physics classes are held at every school. Students receive career counseling. Each school has an individually tailored offering suited to the nature of its education, which also responds to the demand reported by the Powiat Labour Office for specific qualifications whose acquisition will make it easier for young people to find work immediately after leaving school.
Each school received equipment worth 200,000 zlotys. At Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych alone, this mainly includes modern computer software and controllers that enable robots to operate. Students at the “mechanical school” take free courses for welders and powered industrial truck operators. They obtain qualifications essential for electricians. As part of the project, the school received a brand-new Nissan electric vehicle, which cost 125,000 zlotys.
The car serves as a teaching aid for students of the mining technology, mechatronics technology and automotive technology programs. It will also be an invaluable tool for learning safe driving. Especially since, also as part of the project, students take courses and obtain category C and E driving licences. This offer is intended for adult students who already hold licences to drive passenger cars.
The school’s students, Gracjan Czarnota and Jakub Burdzy, are making use of all the opportunities offered by participation in the project. They emphasize that, with the qualifications they have acquired, they hope to quickly find well-paid and satisfying work after completing their education. In turn, the school’s headteacher, Piotr Księżyk, points out that many employers declare their willingness to hire and are already looking at schools for the most talented students with above-average skills.
