Polish National Police Headquarters:
The operation will focus on conducting as many vehicle exhaust emission tests as possible on vehicles suspected on reasonable grounds of failing to meet environmental protection requirements.
For this purpose, police officers will use inspection and measurement devices, namely exhaust gas analysers and smoke meters. If it is found, or reasonably suspected, that a vehicle fails to meet environmental protection requirements, the officer is required to confiscate the vehicle registration certificate (temporary permit) and prohibit the further driving of the defective vehicle.
The officers add:
By driving technically sound vehicles, we help maintain good air quality, particularly in large cities. In addition, we improve safety on our roads.
