A mysterious virus causing pneumonia struck the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of last year. As Radio ZET reports today:
China’s National Health Commission said on Friday that the number of people infected with the novel coronavirus currently stands at 830. It also reported that 26 people had died from acute pneumonia
The World Health Organization is monitoring the situation. So far, there is no information that the virus has reached Poland. Although—as RMF FM reports—Warsaw’s Chopin Airport is prepared for an “epidemiological threat.”
Below is the statement from the Chief Sanitary Inspector, published on the office’s website on January 23:
Recommendations:
People returning from Wuhan who experience symptoms resembling severe influenza are advised to report to the admissions department of an infectious diseases ward and inform staff about their trip.
Other people returning from different cities in China and other Asian countries should, if flu-like symptoms appear, remain under the care of a primary care physician.
At the same time, in connection with the ongoing influenza season in Poland and other countries in the Northern Hemisphere, we recommend vaccination against influenza.
