In Nowogrodziec, between the observation tower and the military cemetery, a mortar shell was found. On Friday, January 24, a bomb disposal operation will be carried out. Sappers from the 23rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Patrol in Bolesławiec will conduct an evacuation between 7:00 and 10:00 a.m. The evacuation will cover an area within a 300-meter radius of the dangerous find. At 11:00 a.m., soldiers will begin removing the unexploded ordnance, an operation that may take approximately two hours.

All people staying in Nowogrodziec in properties located on the following streets will be evacuated:

  • Adama Asnyka – entire street
  • Bolesławiecka – numbers 10 to 18
  • Henryka Sienkiewicza – entire street
  • Ogrodowa – entire street
  • 1 Maja – numbers 24 to 25a
  • Krótka – entire street
  • Mickiewicza 1, 3, 5, 7, 9
  • as well as Milików 23a, 23b, 121a, 121b, 121c; Lipowa Street 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22, 32; Morelowa Street numbers 1 to 10, Jodłowa Street 7, 8, 10, 13, 15; Bukowa Street 1; Dębowa Street 2

For the duration of the evacuation, rooms have been prepared at the Volunteer Fire Department in Nowogrodziec: 20 Lubańska Street, and at GCKiS, 42a Lubańska Street, where people can take shelter.

People requiring assistance with evacuation and those requiring medical transport are asked to call 501 478 788 by midnight on Thursday and from 6:00 a.m. on Friday. After that, such needs should be reported to police officers working in the area.

From 10:00 a.m., pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the danger zone will be suspended until further notice.
