The 28th Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is taking place in Bolesławiec. In the City of Ceramics, Jurek Owsiak is supported by, among others, the Centrum Integracji Kulturalnej „Orzeł”, Teatr Stary (Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury), Leśny Potok (MOSiR), Zespół Szkół Handlowych i Usługowych, Klasyki z Miasta Ceramiki and BKS. The latter organized indoor football tournaments.

This year, the foundation is raising funds to purchase the most modern equipment for saving the lives and health of children who need various types of surgery. Surgeons of all specialties save these children's lives day and night throughout Poland. The Orchestra will focus primarily on such areas of pediatric medicine as general surgery, cardiac surgery and neurosurgery.
For operations to be effective and safe, with as few complications as possible, and for early and long-term outcomes to match the world's best, the most modern and very expensive medical equipment is needed. It is essential equipment for operating rooms, postoperative intensive care units and diagnostic imaging departments.
This includes operating lights, operating tables, diathermy units, anesthesia machines, monitoring equipment, teletransmission devices, C-arm X-ray machines and endoscopic sets.
The Finale's goal also includes purchasing equipment for postoperative intensive care units. Planned purchases include incubators, monitors, ventilators, as well as automatic syringe and volumetric pumps. In addition, both operating rooms and postoperative units will need ultrasound machines and echocardiographs.
Last year, the local committee raised PLN 127,813.38! It was the largest sum ever collected in our city. The head of WOŚP in Bolesławiec, Michał Szwed, promised that if more than PLN 100,000 were raised in Bolesławiec during the Finale, he would walk home barefoot. The amount collected exceeded that threshold and... the WOŚP head kept his word.
Now he has promised that if the Bolesławiec committee raises more than PLN 150,000, he will become a winter swimmer—that is, he will bathe in icy water.
