The government program called the Public Transport Development Fund, commonly known as the bus fund, is a system providing state-budget subsidies for every kilometer traveled. Currently, the fund contributes one złoty. Participation in the program requires the organizer and operator of the transport services to provide financial contributions, develop the services and maintain the routes.
County head Tomasz Gabrysiak signed the first agreement with the voivode in August this year. As a result, Bolesławiec County launched the largest number of new bus routes—25 in total—among all local governments in Lower Silesia.
PKS now reaches the county’s most remote localities, enabling residents to use public transport. In Bolesławiec Municipality alone, 60% more services are being operated than before joining the program.
To make it easier for county residents to reach workplaces and schools and return home, the greatest number of services operate between 6:00 and 8:00 and during the afternoon rush hour, from 14:00 to 16:00.
