Open Days at maternity wards are being launched by five provincial hospitals in Lower Silesia: Specjalistyczny Szpital Ginekologiczno-Położniczy im. E. Biernackiego w Wałbrzychu, Wojewódzki Szpital Specjalistyczny w Legnicy, Wojewódzkie Centrum Szpitalne Kotliny Jeleniogórskiej, Wojewódzki Szpital Specjalistyczny we Wrocławiu and Szpital Specjalistyczny im. A. Falkiewicza we Wrocławiu.
The obstetrics and gynaecology department and the delivery suite can be visited in pairs. Pregnant women and their companions will be shown around by a midwife appointed for this task. She will answer questions from those interested and provide explanations concerning childbirth, a hospital stay, available forms of pain relief and preparation for a caesarean section.
“We are open to ideas and proposals put forward by women’s groups working on this extremely important issue of perinatal care. We would like to improve perinatal care standards in the Marshal’s hospitals, and that is what we will strive to do,” says Deputy Marshal Marcin Krzyżanowski.
