We have reported several times on the planned renovation of the railway station in the City of Ceramics. Unfortunately, the project has been delayed.
Why? The cancellation of the first tender. As the transport-publiczny.pl website reports:
This is already the second tender for the station renovation. Two bids were submitted in the previous tender, ranging from PLN 18.986 million gross to PLN 20.426 million gross. This was significantly above the budget set for the project, amounting to PLN 12.803 million. Therefore, PKP SA decided to cancel the proceedings and announce a new tender.
The deadline for submitting bids in this second tender is 8 November.
Let us recall. In August, we reported that the railway station in Bolesławiec would be renovated.
Michał Stilger, spokesperson for PKP S.A.:
The renovation of Bolesławiec station will include modernization of the station building and development of the area in its immediate surroundings. Since the building is a historic structure, its overall form will not change. Only the non-historic extensions added at a later date will be demolished.
What will change?
M. Stilger: “The functional layout of the interiors will change. In addition to facilities related to passenger service—ticket offices, a waiting room and toilets—there will be rooms intended for lease. During the renovation, the building’s façade will be restored. The window and door joinery will be replaced. The renovation will also cover all rooms inside the building, as well as the replacement of ceilings, reinforcement of the roof structure along with replacement of the roof covering, downpipes and gutters. The historic ceiling in the waiting room and the barrel vault in the room for parents with children will also be restored.
Will there be surveillance?
“The building will be adapted to modern fire-safety standards,” the spokesperson emphasizes. “The station will also become safer thanks to the installation of modern video-surveillance, access-control, and intrusion and panic-alarm systems.
What about accessibility for people with disabilities?
A representative of the railway company reassures: “The facility will be adapted to serve people with reduced mobility by installing guiding paths, removing architectural barriers, and adapting the toilets to the needs of people with disabilities.
Will it become more modern?
Michał Stilger:
Modern public-address and visual-information systems will also be installed. In accordance with the latest standards, the building will be equipped with a BMS (Building Management System).
Good news for cycling enthusiasts
The surroundings of the building will also change, M. Stilger emphasizes. The former toilet building will be renovated and converted into a bicycle shelter. An additional bicycle parking area will be located nearby.
When will the project be completed?
“We plan for the stations to be opened to passengers after the renovation in the second quarter of 2021,” the spokesperson reports.
