The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the publication “The Jubilee of Bolesławiec Borderlands Residents 1989–2019 – 30 Years of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich, Bolesławiec Branch, and the Związek Sybiraków, Bolesławiec Circle,” edited by Barbara Smoleńska and Maria Niemczuk.
The publication, issued by the Museum of Ceramics on behalf of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich, Bolesławiec Branch, contains 145 biographies of settlers who arrived in Bolesławiec or its surrounding area. They were written by students, teachers, a team of several dozen authors, and employees of the Bolesławiec museum. The gala took place at BOK–MCC.
The publication, an editorial gem, was supported by sponsors, including Bolesławiec County. “Bolesławiec County’s contribution to the publication is an investment in memory and an expression of enormous respect for your work,” said County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak. “Institutions at various levels may sign agreements and treaties, but you are the ones building sincere, warm relationships between ordinary people.”
The work of the presidents of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich—Ms Stanisława Balawander, Ms Barbara Smoleńska, and Mr Adam Fornal, as well as that of Maria Niemczuk, President of the Bolesławiec Circle of the Związek Sybiraków, was recognized by the Bolesławiec municipal authorities, who awarded them the title “Meritorious to the City of Bolesławiec.”
